About Us

Yateley Choral Society is a friendly and inclusive group of music lovers. We constantly strive to perform to our highest potential. We are fortunate to have been led by some extremely talented Musical Directors, and are currently under the direction of James Casselton.

We perform four or five concerts a year with a variety of styles from classical to modern, including a concert of light music in the summer and a Christmas concert for charity involving young local music makers.

We try to perform at least one concert a year with orchestral accompaniment.

Alongside music making, our mission is to foster musical interest in the local community, particularly in young people, and to support local charities wherever possible. In addition to our own concerts, we occasionally join with other choirs to perform larger works in beautiful venues such as the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, and Guildford Cathedral.

"I joined YCS shortly after my husband died when I was trying to re-build my life. I hadn’t really sung since school and I knew none of the choral repertoire, but the other choir members were so friendly and encouraging that I gradually gained my confidence. Now singing is an absolutely essential part of my life – thanks to YCS."

"Performances by YCS never disappoint. They obviously enjoy what they do and their leader is an inspiration to them all. Each programme is carefully prepared with old (and new) pieces that are sung to perfection. Food for the soul indeed."
